Laser Print Incoming Media Parameters

Media Types:
• 3 1/2" floppy disk
• CD ROM
• E-mail: laser.print@tgidirect.com
• Hardcopy sample to be keyed
• FTP – per previous agreement (must have a user name and password)

Document Types:
• For basic jobs, we prefer Microsoft Word, pdf, rtf or txt files in PC format
• For more complex jobs, we can accommodate PC or Mac Quark, InDesign, Publisher
• For document types not listed here, please confirm availability with your sales rep

Additional services are available to convert files and formats created by Software not listed above.

Images: Line Art/Graphics: (ie: Signatures and Logos)
• Color - Black & White or Gray Scale
• Types - PCX, BMP, Tiff, JPEG or Hardcopy to be scanned
• Density - At least 300dpi
• Size - At least 100% of the output image size

Fonts:
• Type- True Type (Postscript fonts can be converted, but take extra time)
• Please provide any unusual font(s), including the italic and bold versions
• If a True Type font is not available, with your permission, we will match your font as closely as possible.

Barcodes:
• Postnet (Postal, Zip + 4 +2)
• Code 3 of 9 (created for scanning purposes)
• Code 128 (created for scanning purposes)
• 2D (created for tracking or used through our Smart Inserting process)

Stocks:
• Weights - From 16# bond up to 110# index.
• Types – Bond laser, premium text book, uncoated book, book coated, text/book, coated cover, uncoated cover, opaque cover, tag, index, Bristol, coated board
• Smooth stock improves the image quality, textured stock can be imaged with an increased chance for cracking and rub off .
• NO DYE CUTS OR EMBOSSED CARDS ADDED TO STOCK
• NO ENAMEL, VARNISHES, OR COATING.
• "Laser Compatible" Stocks are recommended
• Sizes – 8 x 10 to 14.3 x 17” (other stock sizes may be applicable with testing required)
• Grain - Grain should run the length of the form to avoid curling during the laser printing process.

Ink: (Offset)
• Use oil based inks or Wax free inks.
• NEVER use water or rubber-based inks.
• Offsets using metallic inks can be imaged through the Laser printers, though they may chip during the laser printing processes.

Perforation (perf):
• Micro perforation is recommended (working best if the perf is down to the non-laser printed side of the page)
• Please allow for at least 1/4" free space above and below the perf.

Scoring:
• If scoring is required before laser printing, make it light enough that when stacked, the stock is straight enough to feed through the printers. (Recommended that it is scored AFTER the laser printing process.)
• The score should be down to the non-laser printed side of the page.

Orientation:
• Portrait (running from left to right)
• Landscape (running from top to bottom)
• Both the above orientations can be laser printed as simplex (one side only) or duplex (both front and back).

Margins:
• If specific margins are required please indicate and the piece will be set up to reflect (keep in mind that there is a 1⁄4” unprintable margin around the page).
• Otherwise, from left will be 11⁄4” to accommodate the postal requirements for a Postnet Barcode should a barcode be used.

Customer Provided Sample:
A hardcopy sample must be provided by the client with the placement of all variable information clearly noted. Should specific margins or point size be required, please indicate measurements at this time.
